Thomas Telford School School Choir is due to perform at the Schools Prom at London’s Royal Albert Hall in November. The Schools Prom is organised by Music For Youth and is the largest annual youth music event in the United Kingdom.

Head of Music at Thomas Telford School, Mr Gareth Howard explains: "To be selected to perform at the world-renowned Royal Albert Hall, groups must first enter Regional Festivals held across the UK during the Spring. At our Regional Festival at Meole Brace, Shrewsbury in March, the adjudicators loved our Choir's performance enough to award the students a place at the National Festival at Birmingham Town Hall in July where the Choir competed alongside 23 other Senior Choirs from across the UK. The choir was awarded outstanding comments from the professional mentors.

As a result of our performance in Birmingham, Music For Youth selected our Choir's performance of "Bohemian Rhapsody" as one of only a handful items for performance at the Royal Albert Hall in November. Clearly everyone is extremely excited to showcase our talent in this amazing venue and to be amongst the crème de la crème of young talent from Schools, Colleges, Music Centres and Universities in the UK, especially as this is only the second year the Choir has entered the Music For Youth Festival - none of us dreamed we would get this far so quickly." Thomas Telford School Choir is programmed to be the final item on the second night of the Proms on Tuesday 9 November and tickets are available direct from the Royal Albert Hall Box Office.
