Talvinder Bansal and Liam Kennedy
Mon, 26 Sep 2011
Our Star Students this week are Liam Kennedy and Talvinder Bansal who played major roles in the Year 7 Battle of Hastings.
Liam was Harold Godwinson, leader of the defending Saxon army and Talvinder starred as William the Conqueror, leader of the invading Norman army. The boys had to audition for the roles as they were highly sought after this year with many students putting their names forward. William and Harold were both powerful leaders and so the students chosen had to be able to show this through their speech reading as well as acting and passion on the day. Liam and Talvinder shone through in their enthusiasm and excellent reading of the script.
For Liam, the role involved leading his Saxons against the invading Normans. Liam proved to be excellent, rallying his troops with his speeches and also successfully defending two Norman attacks. He was involved in the famous ‘arrow through the eye’ scene which he acted out brilliantly.
Talvinder played William the Conqueror superbly. He took to the role well and his speeches and acting on the day were outstanding.
