Loughborough Engineering residential event
On Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 March 2012, Loughborough University will be holding its hugely popular annual Engineering Experience.

The two day event gives 6.1 students the opportunity to visit up to four of our engineering departments to experience studying engineering at university.  In addition to these visits, students will be provided with all meals and an overnight stay in a hall of residence to complete the experience.

The cost of the event is £45 per student (to cover meals and accommodation).

UNIQ Summer Schools at the University of Oxford
The University of Oxford has 750 free places available on its week-long residential programme for 6.1 students taking place in July and August 2012.  There are 28 programmes to choose from, including Medicine, PPE, Physics. The week has been designed to give you an idea of what it might be like to study that subject at Oxford, and you will enjoy a full academic and social programme during your time on the summer school.
UNIQ Summer School applicants must have at least 6 A* at GCSE.  Please see the website for full details regarding eligibility criteria.

Sutton Trust Summer Schools
A group of universities are offering 1000 places at free residential summer schools for 6.1 students in 2012 including:

  • University of Bristol
  • University of Cambridge
  • Durham University
  • Imperial College
  • University of Nottingham
  • University College of London
  • St Andrews

Subjects available include: Engineering, Humanities, Law, Business, Veterinary Medicine and many, many more.  The residential programme has been designed for you to have a realistic experience of University life including  full academic and social commitments.  You will also have the opportunity to explore Student Finance.

Sutton Trust Summer School applicants must have at least 5A/A* at GCSE.  Please see the website for full details regarding eligibility criteria.

Exploring Psychology
What? A residential conference covering various aspects of Psychology.  There is a choice of 2 programmes: Clinical and Social.  The Clinical programme will cover: Gambling and Addiction, Neuro Linguistic Programming, The Psychology of Psychosis, Eating Disorders and Personality.  The Social programme will cover: Freud and the analysis of dreams, The Paranormal, Cyberspace Romance, Piaget meets Beethoven, Child Psychology and Forensic Psychology.

MEDISIX
What? A residential conference for Year 12 and 13 students wishing to enter the medical profession.   The conference covers various topics, and the programme is broadly split between two modules: Hospital and Community.  The Hospital module covers: Pre-hospital care, Radiography, General medicine, Oncology, Orthopaedics, Accident and Emergency, Careers in Medical Research, Intensive Care Unit, Careers in Surgery.  The Community Module covers Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, General Practice, Dental Surgery, Opportunities Abroad, Ageing & 21st Century Medicine, Paediatrics, Communicable Disease Service
