Careers - Pre 16 Options

Careers Education and Guidance is very important in your early years at School.
The Government is recommending that there will be Careers input in Years 7 & 8.
In year 7 you will have an introduction to careers and the opportunity to complete the fast tomato careers package.
In Year 8
You will have to make your subject choices for GCSE. It is important that you keep as broad a range of subjects as possible over and above the Core Subjects.
You will be given the opportunity to use Fast Tomato.
In Year 9
There will be the opportunity for contacts with other organisations e.g.Smallpeice and Engineering Experience.
You will be given the opportunity to use Fast Tomato.
In Year 10
You will be given the opportunity of getting involved in the Careers Discovery Programme – Video
Dates for 2012 to be confirmed.
Y10 Work Related Learning week: 2 July - 6 July 2012. This will include:
- 4 Day Army Residential Course
- Smallpeice Engineering Challenge
- Work Tasters
In Year 11
You will be given the opportunity of a one to one interview with a Personal Adviser from Connexions 4 Youth plus Occupational Group work sessions.
To help with Careers Information Research use the Careers Resource Centre at School and get help from Miss Hayward.

Once you have completed your GCSEs we also have a Year 11 Options Programme, which consists of:
- An Adventure Experience at an Outside Pursuits Centre. Video
- One week work experience.
Work Experience
Once you start Year 11 you will be thinking about your next steps after GCSEs for more information see Options 16+.
Year 11 students wanting to partake in work experience need to return the pro forma to Miss Hayward in Careers.

Fast Tomato is a careers education and guidance system, designed for all individuals aged 12 upwards who are considering their future career options. It is used in over 1400 schools and colleges in the UK and internationally.
